Raleigh, NC – The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of central North Carolina, effective from midnight Thursday night through midnight Friday night.
According to the advisory, a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain will move across the region, producing up to one inch of snow and a light glaze of ice. The advisory covers Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, and Halifax Counties, including the Triad and Triangle areas.
Forecasters warn that slippery roads and bridges could cause hazardous travel during both the Friday morning and evening commutes. Even minor icing may lead to slick conditions on untreated roads, especially in shaded or elevated areas.
Residents are urged to drive with caution, allow extra travel time, and check the latest road updates by dialing 511 or visiting DriveNC.gov.
Temperatures are expected to hover around freezing through Friday night, keeping surfaces icy until gradual warming arrives Saturday morning.
