Raleigh, NC – The National Weather Service in Raleigh has extended a Freezing Fog Advisory through 9 a.m. EST Sunday, warning of near-zero visibility and icy road conditions across much of central North Carolina.
Counties affected include Wake, Durham, Alamance, Guilford, Forsyth, Franklin, Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, and Orange, as well as Granville, Vance, Warren, and Person.
According to forecasters, visibility could drop to one-quarter mile or less, and black ice may form on bridges, overpasses, and other untreated surfaces. The fog and ice combination could create hazardous travel conditions, especially for early-morning commuters.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles. Motorists should also avoid using cruise control and watch for slick patches in shaded or elevated areas.
Conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning as temperatures rise above freezing and fog lifts across the Triangle and Triad regions.
This Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. EST Sunday, December 7, 2025.
