Huntsville, AL – Rain showers are set to impact North Alabama today and tomorrow, with cooler conditions arriving by midweek. The National Weather Service forecasts moderate to heavy rain with chances as high as 90% this afternoon. Highs will peak around 55 degrees today, followed by steady overnight showers and lows near 47 degrees. Gusty winds up to 20 mph could make driving hazardous, especially on I-565 and US-231.
According to the National Weather Service, this weather system will bring milder temperatures Monday and Tuesday, with highs near 65 degrees. However, a cold front will move through late Tuesday, dropping temperatures significantly by Wednesday. Expect highs in the mid-40s midweek and overnight lows in the 20s. Sunny skies should return by Thursday, but cold air will linger, with daytime highs in the mid-40s.
Residents are urged to exercise caution on wet roadways today and prepare for much colder weather later this week. Keep umbrellas and jackets handy, and consider winterizing outdoor plants or water systems ahead of freezing conditions.
This week’s forecast suggests that rain could deliver up to two inches of accumulation by Tuesday. Those in flood-prone areas should monitor drainage systems as a precaution. By midweek, dry weather and sunshine will offer a break before another possible rain system late next weekend.
Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates and prepare for temperature swings this week.
