Louisville, KY – A strong cold front is set to bring heavy rain and potential snow across Kentucky starting Friday night. Temperatures will plummet as the Arctic air sweeps into the region, with icy conditions possible through Sunday along major roadways like I-65.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will begin with mild temperatures reaching a high of 44°F before rain moves in during the evening. Rainfall totals could reach up to an inch, creating slick roadways. By Saturday night, temperatures will drop below freezing, with precipitation potentially turning into snow. Drivers should prepare for delays and monitor weather updates closely.

The weekend’s high temperatures will range from 39°F on Saturday to just 26°F on Sunday. Wind chills on Sunday night could drop to single digits, with a low of 5°F expected. Bitterly cold air will dominate early next week, with Martin Luther King Jr. Day bringing highs of just 15°F.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, winterize their homes, and check on vulnerable neighbors. If traveling, pack emergency kits and ensure vehicles are winter-ready. Light snow accumulation is possible Saturday night, particularly in northern Kentucky, increasing the risk of icy roads.

The extended forecast shows continued frigid conditions into midweek, with highs only reaching the teens on Tuesday. Sunshine is expected by midweek, but lows will remain dangerously cold.
