Quincy, California – A pedestrian was killed and a driver was arrested following a late-night collision on State Route 70 east of Mill Creek Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Quincy Area office, officers responded around 10:35 p.m. Monday to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the eastbound lanes of SR-70.

A preliminary investigation indicates a female driver was traveling eastbound at an undetermined speed when her vehicle struck a female pedestrian within the traffic lane. After the collision, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Life-saving measures were performed at the scene by CHP officers and the Plumas County Sheriff’s Department. Despite those efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

CHP stated that the crash remains under investigation and that alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor. The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the death investigation in coordination with CHP’s collision investigators.
