Montréal, QC — A late-March weather shift is set to bring snow, gusty winds, and steady rain to Montréal and surrounding regions of Québec beginning Saturday evening and continuing through early next week.
According to Environment Canada, snow will begin Saturday, March 29, with temperatures dropping to -7°C overnight. Sunday brings periods of snow or rain with a daytime high of 7°C, followed by continued showers into Monday, March 31, when temperatures may reach a mild 11°C.
Winds will increase throughout the weekend, with gusts up to 50 km/h on Friday easing by Saturday evening. The fluctuating temperatures and precipitation could create slick conditions across roads and sidewalks, especially in higher elevation areas north of the city and along highways heading into the Laurentians.
Commuters should prepare for reduced visibility, possible localized flooding in low-lying areas, and slippery travel. Residents are advised to clear catch basins and monitor weather alerts as the rain intensifies Monday.
Cross-border travelers into northern New York and Vermont should also be cautious, as similar mixed precipitation patterns are expected throughout the Champlain Valley region.
Environment Canada recommends delaying non-essential travel during peak snowfall hours Saturday night and urges the public to monitor updated advisories throughout the weekend.
