Quebec City, QC – Travel conditions across Quebec could become hazardous this weekend as a mix of flurries and freezing rain moves into the region beginning Saturday night and continuing through late Monday.

According to Environment Canada, light snow is expected to begin near midnight Saturday, with up to 4 cm of accumulation possible in parts of southern Quebec. Winds will shift northwest overnight, gusting up to 40 km/h, and drive wind chills as low as -9°C by Sunday morning.

Road conditions may deteriorate further Sunday night as freezing rain is forecast to develop across Quebec City and surrounding areas. Commuters should prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility. By Monday, temperatures are expected to rise to 11°C, bringing steady rain throughout the day and slushy, slick travel conditions through the evening hours.

The weather system could create delays for drivers on major roadways, especially Routes 138 and 175. Public transit users are encouraged to monitor updates from local agencies.

Residents are advised to keep emergency supplies in vehicles, allow extra commute time, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of freezing rain.

The system is expected to clear by early Tuesday, with sunny skies and temperatures near 0°C.
