Davenport, IA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Quad Cities region through 3 a.m. Friday, as steady snow continues across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Quad Cities.

Snowfall totals are expected to reach 2 to 4 inches, with isolated amounts up to 5 inches possible in heavier bands. The advisory includes Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Muscatine, Burlington, Moline, Rock Island, and Macomb, covering portions of east-central and southeast Iowa and west-central Illinois.

Forecasters warn that roads, bridges, and overpasses will become slick and hazardous, particularly during the Thursday evening commute. As temperatures drop below freezing overnight, any untreated surfaces may quickly refreeze, adding to travel risks early Friday morning.

The NWS urges drivers to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and check local road conditions before heading out. Iowa residents can visit 511ia.org, and Illinois travelers can check gettingaroundillinois.com for live updates.

Snow will gradually taper off after midnight, but patchy ice and low visibility may linger into the morning hours.
