Davenport, Iowa – Snowfall is already making travel difficult across the Quad Cities, with up to 4 inches expected by late Monday as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, snow will continue throughout the afternoon and evening, impacting cities including Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline, and surrounding communities. The advisory covers much of east-central Iowa and western Illinois, where road conditions are quickly deteriorating.

Slippery stretches have been reported on I-74 and I-80, especially near bridge decks and highway ramps. Crews are working to keep major roadways treated, but drivers should expect reduced visibility and snow-covered lanes through the evening commute. Local emergency managers are urging residents to delay non-essential travel and give plows room to work.

Schools and businesses may experience delays or early closures, particularly in Clinton, Muscatine, and Henry counties, where snowfall rates could briefly intensify before tapering late tonight.

Snow is expected to end by midnight, but slick spots could linger into early Tuesday. Drivers are encouraged to check 511ia.org or gettingaroundillinois.com for up-to-date road conditions.

Additional weather advisories may follow if colder air triggers refreezing overnight.
