Davenport, IA – Rain showers will taper off early this morning across the Quad Cities region, but gloomy skies and cooler temperatures are expected to linger through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Quad Cities.

According to NWS forecasters, today will feature gradually ending morning rain with highs ranging from the low 40s north of Interstate 80 to the mid-50s farther south. Cloud cover will hold firm throughout the day, keeping conditions damp and cool across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois.

Wednesday will remain cloudy with temperatures again stuck below seasonal averages. Highs are expected to reach the upper 40s to low 50s, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-30s across much of the region.

A shift toward milder weather is expected Thursday as warmer air moves in from the south and west. Forecasters say highs could climb into the mid-50s to near 60 degrees, making it the warmest day of the week. Skies should also begin to break up, offering a brief stretch of calmer and more pleasant conditions.

Rain chances return Friday, particularly for communities south of I-80. NWS expects cooler temperatures to settle back in by the end of the week, with highs likely in the upper 40s to low 50s and overnight lows dropping into the upper 20s and low 30s.

While no hazardous weather is expected through the week, residents should be prepared for persistent cloud cover and fluctuating temperatures before the next round of rain arrives to close out the workweek.
