DAVENPORT, Iowa – Patchy fog cleared quickly across eastern Iowa and western Illinois Friday morning, but a cold front sliding in tonight could bring scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, there is a 20 to 40 percent chance of rain this evening as the front moves through. Storms are not expected to be widespread, but any heavier cell could briefly reduce visibility on the roads.

Behind the front, cooler air will settle in, with highs Saturday ranging from the low 70s in eastern Iowa to the low 80s toward western Illinois. Lows Saturday night will dip into the 50s, marking the start of a stretch of below-normal temperatures expected to last through much of next week.

Sunday looks dry and comfortable, with highs near 75 under mostly sunny skies. The trend continues into Monday as highs stay in the upper 60s to low 70s, making for ideal outdoor conditions.

Residents should keep an eye on the skies tonight but can expect a very favorable weekend for outdoor plans. Additional updates from the Weather Service are possible if storms become stronger than expected.
