Quad Cities Weather: Showers North of Highway 30 Tonight, Cooler Temps by Friday

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Showers and a few isolated thunderstorms may develop tonight north of Highway 30 as a passing system brings unsettled conditions to eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Lows will settle between 54 and 59 degrees, keeping the region cooler than recent nights.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a cold front trailing the system will shift through the area Thursday, keeping chances for isolated showers in place. Temperatures will rise slightly during the day, with highs ranging from 76 to 84 degrees depending on location.

Residents in Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Davenport may see brief rainfall before drier conditions arrive Friday. Nighttime lows will fall into the upper 40s both Thursday and Friday nights, marking a noticeable change for late August. Drivers along Highway 30 and I-80 may encounter wet pavement tonight, though no widespread severe weather is expected.

By Friday, sunshine returns and highs will hover in the low 70s, providing a comfortable end to the week. Weekend conditions look mostly dry, but cooler nights will stick around.
