Davenport, IA – After a brief decrease in shower activity this morning, additional showers and isolated storms will be possible late this morning and afternoon across parts of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Severe weather is not anticipated, but residents should be prepared for heavy downpours. Slow-moving storms could bring rain amounts of 1 inch or more.

According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities Iowa/Illinois, scattered coverage is expected from late morning through 7 p.m. tonight. Lightning is possible, mainly east of the Mississippi River, though severe weather remains unlikely.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) emphasizes that most areas will see less rain, if any. However, localized downpours could result in brief but intense rainfall, potentially impacting low-lying areas and causing minor flooding.

Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and be cautious while traveling, as sudden downpours can reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions.

Looking ahead, the weather pattern is expected to remain unsettled, with the possibility of additional showers and storms over the next few days. Temperatures will stay mild, providing some relief from the recent heat.

Stay tuned to local weather channels for the latest updates and be prepared for changing conditions throughout the day.
