Davenport, Iowa – A sweltering weekend is setting in for the Quad Cities and surrounding areas, with dangerous heat index values expected to climb between 98° and 110° through Sunday evening. The highest heat will settle south of I-80, where humidity will make conditions feel oppressive for anyone outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, daytime highs will hover in the upper 80s to mid-90s, but the combined heat and humidity will make it feel much hotter. Storm chances remain low—around 15 to 30 percent—mainly north of Highway 30, where any afternoon clouds could slightly reduce temperatures.

South of I-80, where sunshine holds stronger, the risk of heat-related illness increases. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activities, drink water regularly, wear light clothing, and take breaks in air conditioning or shade. Pets and children should never be left unattended in vehicles.

This dangerous heat is expected to persist until Sunday night, with only scattered storms offering brief relief. Additional advisories are possible if temperatures and humidity remain elevated into early next week.
