Davenport, IA – A quiet and increasingly mild weather pattern is setting up across the Quad Cities region, bringing sunshine, rising temperatures, and favorable travel conditions as the Christmas holiday approaches.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, Sunday will finish the weekend with sunny skies and highs ranging from the upper 30s north to the low 40s south, accompanied by light south winds of 5 to 10 mph. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.

Beginning Monday, temperatures will steadily climb through midweek. Highs are expected to reach the 40s and low 50s Monday and Tuesday, then surge into the upper 50s to mid-60s by Wednesday and Thursday, including Christmas Day. Some locations across eastern Iowa and western Illinois could see highs near 60 degrees, well above normal for late December.

Forecasters say the warming trend will be accompanied by mostly dry weather, with no significant precipitation expected through at least next weekend. The lack of rain or snow should lead to good holiday travel conditions, especially for those driving along Interstate 80, Interstate 74, and Highway 61.

Typical high temperatures for Christmas week in the Quad Cities are usually in the low to mid-30s, highlighting just how unusual the upcoming warmth will be.

Residents across Scott County, Rock Island County, Clinton County, Muscatine County, and surrounding communities are encouraged to enjoy the mild holiday weather while staying updated on forecasts, as December conditions can still change quickly.
