Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois –Decreasing clouds will bring a quieter night across the Quad Cities, with temperatures dipping to the mid-60s by early Wednesday. Any lingering showers are expected to die off by midnight, giving way to clearer skies.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, isolated storms are possible Wednesday, especially for areas east of the Mississippi River. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s through Friday, with humidity making it feel even warmer. The main concern arrives late Thursday into Friday, when strong to severe storms could impact eastern Iowa and western Illinois, possibly bringing damaging winds or hail.

Cities like Davenport, Moline, and Rock Island should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions, especially on Friday. Rural roads and highways near the river may become hazardous if storms develop. Residents are urged to keep cell phones charged, secure loose outdoor items, and have a way to receive warnings overnight.

This week’s weather marks the first run of strong summer storms since June, with conditions similar to last year’s July pattern. More advisories could follow as the threat window approaches.

Storm chances remain highest late Thursday into Friday; stay tuned for updated alerts from the National Weather Service.
