Davenport, IA – Residents across eastern Iowa, northwestern Illinois, and northeast Missouri should prepare for a hot stretch of weather that will last into next week. According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s to mid-90s beginning Saturday and continuing through Tuesday.
Forecasters say Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the 80s before heat builds over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will bring the hottest conditions, with highs ranging from 88 to 95 degrees. A slight, 20 percent chance of storms is possible Sunday night, though most areas are expected to remain dry.
Humidity levels will stay relatively comfortable, the weather service noted, which may ease some of the heat’s impact. Still, the extended period of warm and hot weather could bring challenges for outdoor activities, especially during the afternoon and early evening hours.
The forecast shows continued warmth into early next week, with highs between 84 and 92 degrees Monday and Tuesday before easing slightly midweek.
The National Weather Service reminds residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors as the region enters one of its hottest stretches so far this September.
