Quad Cities, IA/IL – Residents across the Quad Cities face hazardous conditions as a major winter storm pushes through the area tonight, bringing up to a foot of snow, gusty winds, and dangerous travel into early Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, snow will begin falling late Friday night, intensifying into Saturday with snowfall rates reaching 1 to 1.5 inches per hour. The worst impacts are expected between 6 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday, when heavy snow combines with wind gusts up to 30 mph to cause whiteout conditions and blowing snow.

Snow totals across Davenport, Moline, Bettendorf, and Rock Island are projected to reach 10–12 inches or more. Roads including I-74, I-80, and Highway 61 are expected to be snow-covered and treacherous, particularly Saturday evening when visibility may drop significantly.

Residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel, allow extra travel time, and keep vehicles stocked with emergency supplies. Power outages and isolated closures remain possible during peak snowfall.

The winter storm warning remains in effect through early Sunday, with additional advisories possible as cleanup begins.
