Davenport, Iowa – A narrow band of accumulating snow could bring up to 2 inches to parts of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois late Wednesday night, potentially affecting travel along Interstate 80 and nearby highways.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, a fast-moving system may produce a focused corridor of snowfall between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday. Forecasters say snowfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches appear possible where the band sets up, though there remains uncertainty in the exact placement.

Areas generally south of U.S. Highway 30 and into portions of the Quad Cities region, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline and Rock Island, could see light accumulations. If the band shifts farther south, snow totals may increase in areas highlighted in the agency’s southern outlook zone.

Officials emphasized that minor travel impacts are possible, especially on elevated roadways and untreated surfaces. Drivers along I-80, I-74, I-280 and U.S. 61 should monitor conditions overnight as snowfall rates could briefly reduce visibility.

The exact location of the accumulating snow band remains uncertain, and totals may vary significantly over short distances. Some communities could see little accumulation if the band shifts north or south.

While widespread disruptions are not expected, overnight travelers and early Thursday commuters may encounter slick spots during the pre-dawn hours.
