Quad Cities, IA/IL – Quiet and dry weather is expected across eastern Iowa and western Illinois through the weekend, with a steady warming trend developing into early next week, according to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities.

Forecasters say today will remain seasonably cold, with highs ranging from the lower 20s to lower 30s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Overnight temperatures tonight are expected to fall into the mid-teens to lower 20s, keeping winter conditions firmly in place to start the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will bring gradually moderating temperatures, though conditions will remain cool for early January. Highs on Saturday are forecast to reach the mid-20s to mid-30s, followed by upper 20s to upper 30s on Sunday. Skies will feature off-and-on cloud cover, but no precipitation is expected.

The warming trend becomes more noticeable by Monday, when highs are expected to climb into the lower to middle 40s, with some locations potentially reaching the lower 50s. Overnight lows will also trend milder, generally staying above freezing by early next week.

The National Weather Service notes that dry weather is expected to persist through at least the first part of next week, providing favorable conditions for travel and outdoor activities. No winter weather hazards are anticipated during this period.

While temperatures will be noticeably milder by Monday, forecasters emphasize that conditions will still be typical of a mid-winter warm spell rather than a sustained pattern change. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the quieter weather window before the next active system develops later in the month.

Commuters, students, and outdoor workers across the Quad Cities metro area can expect minimal weather-related disruptions through the weekend and into early next week.
