Davenport, Iowa – Light snow overnight into early Friday morning has led to slick and lightly snow-covered roads across the Quad Cities area, creating slower and more cautious travel for the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

In a 3:30 a.m. update, forecasters said snow has resulted in a light coating, with additional dusting up to 1.5 inches possible in some locations. While temperatures have moderated to near freezing, allowing road treatments to be more effective, slick spots remain, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads.

Snow is expected to taper off between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., depending on location. Areas north of the Quad Cities are expected to see snow end earlier, while locations farther south and east may experience lingering light snowfall into the mid-morning hours.

Westerly winds of 10 to 15 mph may contribute to minor blowing snow, though widespread visibility issues are not expected. Even so, officials caution that patchy hazardous travel conditions may persist after snowfall ends.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, increase following distance, and remain alert for slick pavement. Additional snow chances are possible later today, though impacts are expected to be limited.
