Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – A strong cold front will move through the Quad Cities region tonight, bringing gusty northwest winds and sharply colder conditions through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, winds will shift to the northwest overnight and increase into Wednesday, with gusts reaching 30 to 40 miles per hour at times. Breezy conditions will continue throughout the day Wednesday, contributing to much colder and uncomfortable outdoor conditions.
Behind the cold front, temperatures are expected to fall into the 20s overnight, with highs remaining in the 20s for most locations on Wednesday. Wind chills will make it feel colder, especially during the morning and afternoon hours as strong winds persist.
Forecast data shows slightly milder conditions south of the region, where highs may briefly reach the low 30s, while northern areas remain firmly in the mid-20s. The National Weather Service said little improvement in temperatures is expected until later in the week.
Looking ahead, Thursday highs are forecast between 26 and 32 degrees, with winds gradually shifting from northeast to southwest. Occasional light snow is possible late Thursday night into Friday, though impacts are expected to remain minor at this time.
By Friday, temperatures may rebound slightly into the low to mid-30s, with continued chances for light snow into Friday night. Overnight lows late week are forecast to fall into the single digits and teens, especially Thursday and Friday nights.
Residents across Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline, and surrounding communities are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and prepare for blustery conditions Wednesday.
No weather advisories were issued with this update, but officials recommend monitoring forecasts for changes.
