Davenport, Iowa – Triple-digit heat indices are set to grip the Quad Cities from Friday through the weekend, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s and humidity pushing the “feels-like” temperature as high as 105° on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, southerly winds will pull in humid air beginning Friday, pushing heat indices well above seasonal norms. The most intense conditions are expected Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, with scattered thunderstorms possible late Sunday mainly along and north of I-80.
Residents in Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and surrounding towns are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated, and keep pets indoors. The heat will be especially dangerous for those without air conditioning or working outdoors. While storms could bring temporary relief Sunday night, they may also produce gusty winds and brief downpours.
Heat advisories could be issued if conditions worsen. The National Weather Service advises continued monitoring for updates through the weekend.
