Quad Cities, IA/IL – A round of dry, fluffy snow is set to move across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois Saturday night into early Sunday, bringing travel hazards and slick road conditions, according to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities.

Forecasters say snow will develop west to east between 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday, tapering off by late Sunday morning. Most areas north of Highway 34 — including Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and the Quad Cities — have a 60–80% chance of at least two inches of accumulation.

Localized totals of 4 inches or more are possible, especially in parts of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Reduced visibility during heavier snow bands could make overnight travel hazardous.

The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions before heading out Saturday night or Sunday morning. Temperatures will stay below freezing, limiting melting through the weekend.
