Quad Cities, IA/IL – A wind advisory and light snow are creating hazardous conditions across the region Thursday, affecting travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow is reducing visibility to one mile or less. Slick road conditions are developing, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Although minimal snow accumulation is expected, drivers are urged to proceed cautiously.

The wind advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Northwest winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. Some areas, particularly in northwest Illinois, may experience gusts up to 50 mph.

Officials warn the strong winds may blow down unsecured outdoor objects, including decorations. Tree limbs could fall, and isolated power outages are possible. High-profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution due to the gusty conditions.

Travelers in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas should prepare for challenging conditions throughout the day. Visibility, already limited by light snow, will worsen with wind-driven drifts.

Residents should secure loose items outdoors and monitor local updates for changing weather conditions.
