Quad Cities Cooldown: Windy, Cold Nights Ahead With Frost Risk

Davenport, IA – The National Weather Service (NWS) Quad Cities is forecasting a stretch of seasonably cool weather across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois, with areas of frost possible through mid to late week.

According to the NWS, windy conditions are expected today with occasional showers along and north of the I-80 corridor. Daytime highs will reach the upper 40s to low 50s, while nighttime lows dip into the mid-30s. Strong west-northwest winds could gust between 35 and 45 mph this afternoon.

By Wednesday and Thursday, colder air will settle in, bringing overnight lows into the upper 20s to low 30s. Frost is possible Wednesday morning and likely by Thursday night, especially in rural and low-lying areas.

The NWS advises residents to protect sensitive vegetation and plan for chilly morning commutes. While daytime highs will climb into the 50s by Thursday, nighttime temperatures are expected to remain near freezing through the end of the week.
