Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – A stretch of dry and seasonably mild weather will settle over eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois this weekend, but residents should expect hazy skies due to wildfire smoke drifting aloft.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, patchy drizzle and early clouds Thursday morning will clear, ushering in sunny afternoons with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Smoke from Canadian wildfires will contribute to reduced visibility and a noticeable haze through at least Sunday evening.

Cities like Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island will enjoy relatively stable weather through the weekend, with overnight lows in the low to mid-50s and no major rain chances in sight. While the haze is primarily aloft and not expected to significantly impact air quality at the surface, those with respiratory sensitivities should limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially during the warmest hours.

This calm spell offers a welcome break after recent rounds of heavy storms and humidity earlier in July. Roads remain clear, and no weather-related travel disruptions are expected.

Dry and hazy conditions are likely to continue into early next week, with another update from the NWS expected by Sunday evening.
