Putnam, IL – Emergency responders in Putnam County raced to the River Valley Coop Grain Elevator after a potential grain silo collapse on Monday morning. The incident occurred at 8:37 a.m. on IL Hwy 29.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Henry Fire Department, Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Illinois State Police were among several agencies responding to the scene. Crews quickly closed IL Hwy 29 between IL Hwy 18 and the Kentville intersection for safety.

As of Monday, the Illinois Department of Transportation was coordinating with local authorities to manage traffic. Drivers are advised to avoid the area. Detours are expected, and IDOT is in charge of posting alternate routes.

No injuries have been reported, and investigations are ongoing.
