Putnam County, FL – Both eastbound lanes of State Road 20 are closed this morning following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian near the Nine Mile area, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred early Wednesday, October 22, and drivers traveling from Interlachen toward Palatka should expect significant delays throughout the morning. Officials have not released the name of the victim pending family notification.
According to the sheriff’s office, the closure is expected to last several hours while investigators and road crews work at the scene. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes and allow additional travel time during their commute.
No other details about the driver or cause of the crash were immediately available. The Florida Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
