Palatka, FL – A Putnam County man who previously made headlines after allegedly burglarizing a home while naked is now accused of trying to flee a courtroom during a hearing this week.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, a circuit judge revoked bond for 25-year-old Keeton Mercer during a hearing on Tuesday. Mercer was initially arrested in February on burglary charges tied to the earlier incident.
Deputies said that as Mercer was being placed under arrest and a bailiff began the intake process, he allegedly shouted an expletive before attempting to run from the courtroom. Court security, already positioned near the exit, blocked his path and quickly took him back into custody.
Authorities reported that Mercer now faces additional charges, including escape and resisting an officer without violence. These new counts add to his existing charges of burglary, criminal mischief, two counts of battery, and resisting an officer with violence.
Deputies stated that Mercer was taken to the Putnam County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Residents who were in the courthouse during the disturbance are encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office if they witnessed the incident.
