Putnam County, FL – Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people Friday in Interlachen, including a fugitive who allegedly attempted to change his appearance to avoid capture.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Drug Unit located Hunter Spence, 37, and Jacqueline Kaufman, 35, on Friday, September 19, at a property on Grow Street. Spence, who was wanted for vehicle theft, dealing in stolen property, and failure to appear in court, had reportedly shaved his head and mustache in an effort to disguise himself. Deputies said the change did not prevent his arrest.

When deputies arrived, they questioned Lorraine Kaufman, 53, a resident of the property. Investigators said she knew Spence and Jacqueline Kaufman were wanted but allegedly attempted to conceal their location. Lorraine Kaufman was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, a second-degree felony, and resisting arrest without violence. She was taken to the Putnam County Jail on a $3,000 bond.

Deputies then found Spence hiding in a camper with Jacqueline Kaufman. Both were taken into custody. In addition to his outstanding warrants, Spence was also charged with resisting an officer without violence. He remains in jail without bond.

Jacqueline Kaufman was charged with resisting an officer without violence in addition to her warrant. She is being held in the Putnam County Jail on a $50,500 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office shared images of the arrests, noting that deputies were not fooled by Spence’s attempt at disguise.
