Punxsutawney, PA – At 1:00 PM EST Sunday, the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh confirmed that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM EST Monday for portions of western Pennsylvania, including Punxsutawney, Clarion, Brookville, and Tionesta.

According to the National Weather Service, periods of snow will continue overnight across Forest, Clarion, and Jefferson Counties, producing additional snow accumulations of up to two inches. While totals are expected to be light, cold pavement temperatures will allow snow to accumulate quickly on untreated roads.

Forecasters warn that slippery road conditions are likely to develop late Sunday night and persist into early Monday, creating hazards for drivers during the morning commute. Secondary roads, rural routes, bridges, and shaded areas are expected to be the most impacted.

Although widespread travel shutdowns are not expected, even small amounts of snow could lead to longer braking distances and reduced traction, especially during the early morning hours when road crews may still be treating surfaces.

Emergency officials urge motorists to slow down, leave extra following distance, and allow additional travel time Monday morning. Drivers should be alert for sudden slick spots, particularly near intersections and on hills.

The National Weather Service is asking residents to help monitor conditions by reporting snow or ice accumulations. Reports can be submitted by calling 412-262-1988, posting on the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page, or tagging @NWSPittsburgh on X.

Snow is expected to taper off toward daybreak Monday, with gradual improvement later in the morning. However, isolated slick spots may linger even after snowfall ends.
