Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Gale Watch for Puget Sound and Hood Canal, in effect from Saturday evening through late Saturday night, October 25, 2025.

According to the National Weather Service, south winds of 25 to 35 knots are possible as a strong weather system moves across the region. These winds could create hazardous seas capable of capsizing or damaging small vessels and reducing visibility for boaters.

The Gale Watch means the risk of gale-force winds (34 to 47 knots) has increased, though the exact timing and intensity remain uncertain. Mariners are encouraged to closely monitor forecasts and consider altering travel plans until conditions improve.

This advisory covers Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and adjacent inland marine waters, including areas near Seattle, Everett, Bremerton, and Olympia.

Forecasters advise small craft operators to remain in port and secure vessels ahead of deteriorating conditions Saturday evening. Winds are expected to ease by early Sunday morning, followed by calmer seas.
