Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service in Seattle has continued a Wind Advisory for much of western Washington Friday, with gusts of 45–50 mph expected across the northern coast, San Juan Islands, Island County, and western Whatcom County.

According to the NWS, southeast winds will increase through Friday morning, peaking during the afternoon and early evening hours. The advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. PDT, depending on location, covering communities such as Neah Bay, La Push, Bellingham, Port Townsend, and Friday Harbor.

Forecasters warn that strong gusts could knock down small tree limbs, blow around unsecured outdoor objects, and cause isolated power outages—particularly in coastal and island areas. Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution on bridges and open roadways.

Winds are expected to gradually weaken late Friday night as the Pacific system exits the region.
