Miami, FL – The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is tracking Hurricane Gabrielle along with two additional tropical disturbances in the Atlantic, warning residents in the Caribbean to monitor conditions closely this week.

According to the NHC, Hurricane Gabrielle remains located over the central subtropical Atlantic as of Tuesday morning. While not an immediate threat to land, two tropical waves are showing signs of potential development.

The first disturbance, identified as AL93, is located about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Forecasters said Tuesday that showers and thunderstorms associated with this system are gradually organizing. Environmental conditions are expected to become favorable for further development, with a 50 percent chance of forming into a tropical depression within 48 hours and a 90 percent chance within the next seven days as the system tracks west-northwest.

A second disturbance, labeled AL94, is producing disorganized showers and gusty winds near the Windward and Leeward Islands. This wave is forecast to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds into Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands through midweek. The NHC says the system carries a 20 percent chance of formation in 48 hours and a 60 percent chance in the next week as it moves toward the Bahamas.

Residents in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas are urged to keep a close watch on forecasts, as conditions may change quickly.
