Pueblo, Colorado – Triple-digit heat and high fire danger will grip much of Colorado through Sunday, with dangerous conditions in the central mountains and eastern plains expected to persist until a pattern shift early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Red Flag Warnings are in place through Saturday for the central mountains, while a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Sunday. Heat Advisories are active across the plains where highs are forecast to hit 105°F in La Junta and 103°F in Lamar on Saturday. Cities like Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Trinidad will remain in the upper 90s to low 100s through the weekend.
The hottest areas include southeastern Colorado, where dry winds and low humidity are compounding fire weather risks. Local emergency managers urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. The San Luis Valley and southern I-25 corridor may also experience smoke or visibility issues if fires ignite.
Cooling relief is expected by Monday as temperatures dip into the 80s and 90s across the region. Until then, elevated fire risk and heat-related illnesses remain a concern across multiple counties.
