Pueblo, Colorado – Hot conditions persist across Colorado today, with temperatures hovering near seasonal averages and the threat of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Pueblo, showers and storms will begin to form in the mountains by mid-afternoon, gradually moving eastward into the valleys and plains. These storms could bring gusty winds, small hail, and localized heavy rain.

NWS Pueblo forecasts that while the temperature will remain warm, with highs ranging from 80°F to 100°F across the state, the real concern will be the gusty winds accompanying the thunderstorms. Outflow winds could exceed 55 mph, creating hazardous conditions for drivers, especially along rural and open highways. Additionally, brief downpours could lead to localized flooding in areas already saturated from recent rains.

The storms are expected to taper off by late evening, but residents should remain cautious and avoid non-essential travel. The National Weather Service advises people to stay informed about weather alerts, particularly those in eastern Colorado and areas prone to flash flooding.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items, stay indoors during storms, and avoid low-lying areas that may flood quickly.
