PUEBLO, Colo. – A thick veil of fog drapes over the Arkansas River Valley early this morning, muting headlights and softening the glow of streetlamps across Pueblo County. Visibility has dropped below a quarter mile in spots along Highway 50 and I-25, where damp roads and slow traffic mark a foggy start to the day. The haze will lift by midmorning, giving way to a bright, calm afternoon — before a much different setup moves in to start the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday, followed by a Fire Weather Watch Monday for El Paso, Pueblo, and Huerfano Counties. Dry air and gusty west winds, reaching up to 35 mph, will heighten the wildfire risk along the southern I-25 corridor. Relative humidity could drop to 14 percent or lower, setting the stage for fast-moving fires in grass and brush. Residents should postpone outdoor burning, secure loose items, and avoid parking on dry vegetation.
Sunday’s temperatures will climb to near 68°F under sunny skies, warming further to 75°F on Monday before cooler air returns Tuesday. Winds will ease again midweek, leaving behind clear, crisp mornings — perfect for Halloween decorating or light yard cleanup before trick-or-treat night Friday.
By late week, highs hover in the 60s with chilly 30s before sunrise. And while the pattern stays dry for now, early November could bring winter chill.
