Pueblo, Colorado – Travel through Colorado’s mountain passes could become increasingly difficult today as steady snow continues, with the heaviest accumulation focused in the southwest mountains through the evening hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, snow will persist through at least 9 p.m., with snow levels near 9,000 feet. The greatest impacts are expected across the San Juan and central mountain ranges, where additional snowfall could reach up to 12 inches in higher elevations.
Mountain routes including Wolf Creek Pass, Monarch Pass, and other high-elevation corridors may see snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and periods of heavier snowfall that could slow or halt travel.
Lower elevations, including Pueblo and Colorado Springs, will see limited impacts, but drivers heading into the mountains should prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
Travelers are urged to check road conditions before departure, carry winter gear, and allow extra time. Snow is expected to taper later this evening, though lingering slick spots may continue overnight.
