PUEBLO, Colo. – Residents across southeast Colorado face another day of dangerous heat Friday as high temperatures push into the upper 90s and low 100s, with Pueblo forecast to hit 104 degrees. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m., covering Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, Springfield, and surrounding plains communities.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the hottest period will fall between 11 a.m. and late afternoon, with several locations challenging daily heat records. The agency warns that heat exhaustion can develop quickly, particularly for those working or exercising outdoors.

In Pueblo and Colorado Springs, residents are urged to avoid strenuous activity during peak heating, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Pet owners should keep animals indoors or provide shade and fresh water. Road crews and outdoor workers are advised to take extended breaks.

The extreme heat is expected to ease slightly over the weekend but will remain above seasonal averages. Additional advisories could be issued if triple-digit temperatures persist into early next week.
