PUEBLO, Colo. – Fall-like air is sweeping across Colorado on Friday with highs running well below normal and a soggy mix of showers and storms spreading across the state through the afternoon. Drivers and outdoor events may face slowdowns as rain becomes more widespread, especially in southern and central Colorado.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms will increase in coverage during the afternoon, lingering into the evening across valleys and mountain areas. Clearing skies late tonight will allow temperatures to tumble, with many spots dropping to below-seasonal lows by Saturday morning.

Cities along the I-25 corridor, including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Trinidad, should plan for evening showers and damp travel conditions before cooler, drier air arrives overnight. Rural counties stretching east toward Lamar and La Junta can also expect showers before skies begin to break after midnight.

Residents are urged to prepare for the chill by layering up if heading out late, and to give themselves extra time on wet roads Friday evening. Campers and hikers in higher terrain should expect damp trails and the risk of a late-day thunderstorm before skies clear.

The unsettled pattern eases into the weekend, but cool overnight lows will linger, signaling a strong shift into early fall. More advisories may be issued if storm coverage redevelops Saturday afternoon.
