Pueblo, Colorado – Cooler air and cloud cover are briefly settling into southern Colorado today, but conditions are shifting quickly toward a higher fire risks by Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Friday will bring below-normal temperatures with highs mainly in the 40s and 50s across much of the region. Light and spotty showers are possible over higher terrain, but most lower elevations, including Pueblo and Colorado Springs, remain dry under mostly cloudy skies.

The short-lived cooldown follows Thursday’s warmer conditions, but the bigger concern arrives Saturday as temperatures climb back above normal and dry air returns. A Fire Weather Watch is already in effect for parts of southern Colorado Saturday afternoon and evening, including areas along the I-25 corridor.

Communities from Pueblo to Trinidad and east toward La Junta could see conditions where fires ignite and spread quickly due to low humidity and increasing winds. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents should secure equipment that could spark flames.

Today’s calmer weather offers a narrow window to prepare before fire خطر ramps up again.

Fire conditions are expected to peak Saturday afternoon into the evening, with additional alerts possible as warmer, drier air strengthens across the region.
