Pueblo, CO – Winter conditions are set to return to southern Colorado late tonight and Sunday as a cold front brings much colder air and wind-driven snow to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, snow will continue across the mountains today, while the plains remain mostly dry and breezy through the afternoon. Conditions will change late tonight as the cold front pushes south, allowing snow to spread out of the mountains and into the plains.

Forecasters say snowfall amounts are expected to be on the lighter side, but strong winds combined with snow could still create travel impacts, particularly near mountain passes and along east–west roadways. Blowing snow may reduce visibility at times, even where accumulations remain limited.

Temperatures will fall sharply behind the front, marking an end to the recent stretch of unseasonable warmth. Much colder conditions are expected Sunday, with slick roads possible in and near the mountains and in areas where snow briefly accumulates overnight.

Travelers crossing mountain passes today and tonight should be prepared for winter driving conditions, including sudden reductions in visibility. Even on the plains, brief snow showers and gusty winds could create isolated slick spots, especially during the early morning hours Sunday.

The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and check road conditions before traveling. Residents should also prepare for colder temperatures by dressing in layers and securing loose outdoor items that could be affected by gusty winds.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve Sunday afternoon, though cooler temperatures will linger into early next week.

Additional updates may be issued as the cold front moves through and snow coverage becomes clearer.
