Pueblo, Colorado – An incoming winter storm is expected to bring wind-driven snow and hazardous travel conditions beginning Thursday evening and continuing into Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, multiple winter hazards are now in effect across portions of southeast Colorado. Forecasters say Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes are most likely to be impacted, especially across the southeast mountains, plains, and the I-25 corridor.
The primary concern is wind-driven snow, which is expected to reduce visibility and create dangerous driving conditions. Officials note that even lighter snowfall amounts may accumulate quickly due to strong winds, worsening travel impacts.
The National Weather Service reports that all Winter Storm Watches have been upgraded, and multiple Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for affected areas, including parts of the southeast plains.
Drivers are urged to prepare for rapidly changing road conditions, slow down, and allow extra travel time. Visibility reductions could be sudden, particularly in open and elevated areas.
Another update is expected later Thursday afternoon as the storm evolves.
For commuters and freight traffic along I-25, conditions may deteriorate quickly overnight, with lingering impacts possible into early Friday.
