PUEBLO, Colo. – Much of Colorado will see near-seasonal warmth Monday as high pressure settles over the Rockies, but mountain communities could still face brief afternoon storms. Temperatures are expected to reach the 80s across the plains, with 70s in higher valleys.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, drier air will dominate across southern and central Colorado, though lingering moisture will be enough to fuel isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly along the Continental Divide and higher elevations west of Interstate 25.

Cities including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Lamar should expect a warm and mostly dry day, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Farther west, Leadville, Alamosa, and Buena Vista will top out in the 60s and 70s, with storm chances increasing through late afternoon.

Travelers crossing mountain passes may encounter brief downpours, gusty winds, or lightning between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Outdoor plans should include extra caution, especially in exposed high terrain.

The warm, stable pattern is expected to hold through midweek, with only minor afternoon storm chances continuing over the Rockies.
