Pueblo, Colo. – A major temperature swing is on the way for southern Colorado, with highs dropping from the 80s this weekend into the 60s and 70s by Tuesday. The shift comes with widespread showers and thunderstorms that could impact travel and outdoor activities across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the storm pattern will settle in starting late Sunday and continue into midweek, bringing cooler conditions to cities including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, La Junta and Alamosa. Heavy downpours could reduce visibility on major highways such as I-25 and U.S. 50, and localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

Mountain towns like Buena Vista, Leadville and Woodland Park will see the sharpest drop in temperatures, with highs slipping into the upper 50s and low 60s. Communities across the Arkansas Valley, including Lamar and Springfield, will remain warmer but still trend 10 to 15 degrees cooler than last week.

Residents are advised to prepare for shifting road conditions and avoid driving during heavy downpours. Keeping devices charged and monitoring local alerts will help in case of power disruptions or flash flood advisories.

Showers and storms are expected to linger through Wednesday, with gradual clearing late week.
