Pueblo, CO – Residents in southern Colorado are waking up to chilly mornings this week as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued frost advisories for the San Luis Valley.

According to the NWS office in Pueblo, a Frost Advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, with another advisory reissued for early Thursday morning from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Temperatures are expected to dip near or below freezing in the valley and surrounding mountain areas, potentially damaging sensitive vegetation.

The forecast shows lows dropping into the 20s and 30s across Alamosa, Del Norte, Crestone, and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, highs will rebound into the 60s and 70s during the day. Colorado Springs and Pueblo will remain warmer, with lows in the 40s and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s through the end of the week.

The weather service advises residents to protect outdoor plants and cover exposed plumbing where possible. Gardeners and farmers in the San Luis Valley should take extra precautions as frost-sensitive crops could be affected.

Conditions are expected to gradually warm heading into the weekend, but overnight lows will still bring a risk of patchy frost in low-lying areas.
