Pueblo, CO – Thunderstorms are set to return to much of Colorado Friday and Saturday before drier skies settle in just in time for Labor Day. Highs will stay seasonable, reaching the 70s and 80s on the Plains and upper 50s to 60s across higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop late Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday evening, bringing locally heavy rain and brief gusty winds. Storms are expected to diminish by late Saturday night, giving way to sunnier, warmer conditions on Sunday and Monday.
In Colorado Springs and Pueblo, afternoon highs will hover in the upper 70s to low 80s, with Saturday bringing the greatest chance for showers. Eastern Plains cities such as Lamar and La Junta may see readings in the mid-80s with isolated storms, while mountain towns like Leadville and Woodland Park stay cooler in the 60s with on-and-off showers.
Travelers heading into the holiday weekend should plan for wet roads Friday and Saturday, especially along I-25 and Highway 50. Outdoor events Sunday and Monday look far more favorable, with mild temperatures and mostly dry skies.
