Pueblo, Colo. – Residents across southern and eastern Colorado should brace for a stormy Saturday as widespread showers and thunderstorms spread across the state. Strong to severe storms are most likely over the eastern plains this afternoon and evening, where damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall could disrupt travel and outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the primary hazards include hail up to one inch in diameter, wind gusts reaching 60 mph, and localized flooding from slow-moving storms. Cities including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield are in the risk zone for severe weather, while mountain communities like Salida and Alamosa will see cooler conditions with scattered showers.

Drivers on I-25 and U.S. 50 should be prepared for sudden downpours that may reduce visibility. Power outages are also possible in areas hit by stronger cells. Officials urge residents to secure outdoor items, avoid flooded roads, and stay weather-aware through the evening hours.

Storm chances decrease late tonight, but unsettled weather remains possible into early next week. Additional advisories may be issued if storms intensify.
