Pueblo, CO – Winter weather is returning to southern Colorado, with Winter Weather Advisories in effect this afternoon through Monday morning for the Continental Divide and Sangre De Cristo Mountains, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.
Snow will begin in the mountains Sunday afternoon, spreading into valleys and plains overnight. Forecasts show several inches of accumulation in higher elevations, particularly along the Eastern San Juans, Sawatch Range, and Mosquito Mountains.
Road conditions are expected to become slick and hazardous, especially across mountain passes and adjacent valleys. The NWS urges drivers to check road conditions at cotrip.org before traveling and to carry emergency gear if heading into mountain areas.
Temperatures will remain cold, with highs in the 20s and 30s Sunday and wind chills dropping into the single digits by Monday morning. Residents are advised to dress warmly and prepare for winter driving conditions through early Monday.
